Threats to Ecosystem: By 2022 98% of the Orangutans habitat will be gone! Because people are illegally logging in 41 national forests and 37 countries.Because of palm oil and mining companies.Orangutans used to live all over southeast Asia. However they are only found in the islands of Borneo and Sumatra, a century ago their was 230,000 world wide,Borneo has about 41,000 and Sumatra has only 7,500 left so the population has seriously declined! Today 50% of Orangu tans are found out of protected area!

Importance of Ecosystem:
It gives them a home.
It’s warmer because they have little fur.
They can go from tree to tree to escape from predators.
They live in big groups, so they can help protect each others young.
They usually eat fruit, leaves, and sometimes small vertebrates.
The trees can be good, because they can get water from tree holes.
They can get to the fruit high up in the trees.
They need trees for cover from humans, and the weather.

Conservation Plan: We can fix these problems by watching over the protected areas and try to get the orangutans that are out of protected area into protected area so no more orangutans will be killed. We can also watch over the habitats of orangutans so the people who are logging won’t take over their habitats. Also they can reinforce the law of not killing and trading orangutans and can have forest rangers to protect the national forests.
